Time to think

There are moments that you need to stop for a while, think, improve yourself and go on. The same happens with me, especially when all days differ from each other and are full of operational things.
Repeating Coelho's words for 100000 time - all universe will help you to achieve it. It's crucially to have the right people around you - right and diverse - with this i am happy that my "black" period of life in july showed me who are they and who are they not. and life is a biggest joker - it can turn you around so extraordinary with all your people around that you feel like an artist having absolutely different roles with same people. That is what makes me really happy and makes move forward and inspire people to do their best and realize their full potential. Oh, i wish to see the results of all our efforts, their transformations, amazing feelings of AIESEC experience and its uniqueness.

Dear members, friends, teammates, i know that sometimes it's difficult for you to motivate yourself, to do things that are not what you planned, that get you out of your comfort. BUT Believe me, everything happens for reason in our life. So, it can be the reason for you to change or to get whatever learning you wish. It is learning, be sure.

Positive Psychology

This is the abstract of one very famous training in AIESEC, delivered by Nadiyka Lyubimova. I was llikng through my files in the folder Talent Education, and here it is!

It might answer the stucking questions in yor head. Hope it will:)

How many aiesecers are unhappy with their AIESEC work? How many do you know?

The thing with AIESEC is - you cant be unhappy with it, because its working in one of the best organizations, where ppl work for good cause and change lifes. So some people fake being happy and others are simply showing the opposite: they are sick of exchange, they are tired, they find excuse to miss the meeting, they don’t go for conferences, they are ready to exchange AIESEC for low-responsibility corporate job … They feel underappreciated and stressed. What do we say to them? We say - if you don’t like it, probably its not aligned with your life goals and its just not for you... Can these people bring results at all?

People can bring results. When they are happy with what they are doing! What makes people happy to do their job? Using their strengths.

Strengths

Every person has his/her strength. How do we find it? Its not just what you're good at. You might have a natural talent, but its just an area, where your more specific strengths can be developed. Strengths come from talent combined with knowledge gained from study and skill gained from practice.

How to recognize them? Easy - when you use your strengths you feel energized, you look forward to that work. When you use weaknesses - you feel stressed and weak.

Strengths can also change depending on where u use them, but not the talent areas. Strength is usually a sentence, not a word!

Notice your strengths and then act - adjust your work, step by step, to use more of strengths than weaknesses.

CHANGE YOUR SELF

How do you motivate yourself at work? How to find your inner source of energy at work to be truly happy in your every day work?

First of all…

  1. Search for a positive core of your organization.

Ask your self and your members simple questions to remember why are they here and what strengths they are using here. What is so powerful about relationships of your member and AIESEC.

What is AIESEC at its best? What do you most value about yourself and AIESEC? What did you already achieve here? If you were not there, what would be missing? When do you feel most alive and energetic on the job? What dreams do you have for AIESEC’s future life?

Keeping purpose in mind - creates energy for work!

  1. Reflect on ways to use strengths effectively

In world-wide surveys of more than 10 million employees, Gallup (Rath, 2007) has found that only about a third can strongly agree with the following statement: “At work, I have the opportunity to do what I do best every day.” Can you and your members say that?

The alignment between strengths and jobs is directly related to motivation, retention and results.

  1. Practise reframing

"This is GOOD, because...", instead of "This is BAD, because..."

CHANGE YOUR TEAM

  • See the holistic picture: who has what strengths, ask people to define those, see how you can reallocate tasks to use members' strengths better.
  • See how you can work on strengths that no one has in a team.
  • To improve team performance, at work say at least 3 positive comments for each negative comment.
  • To improve operational results, say “thank you” and use gratitude

Pollay described that researchers had found that waiters who write “Thank you” on the check receive a 11% higher tip than waiters who don’t.

Beginning of something new

There are so many events that happend to me, that i don't know from what to start:)
Some of them were so difficult to percieve and totally smashed my plans, that i couldn't put everything together, some of them were unbelievebly positive and good. Why happens so, that i notice my life only now?

He-he, it's so nice to see my inner transformations. But my dream is to see their transformation and their enjoying each moment of work and life together in one team. Sometimes it's so difficult for me to convince them, to push for actions, motivate for achieving and enjoying, that i'm totally scared how to do it!!! and truly to say sometimes І feel lost of how to do it.
Sometimes i feel that there are nobo imabdy to support me, but then i realize that there're a lot of people whom i need just to recognize and they'll do their best. Sometimes i can't understand people that seemed to be friends, and now are ready to push me and can't accept my ideas, my worldview, people that were role-models for me, but then i realize that it shouldn't be an obstacle for me, and obstacles are only steps to become wiser and stronger.

In 1,5 hour i start a term of LCP. I don't how it will look like, i know that all plans will look differently from what i was imagening, i know it will be difficultly, i know there will be moments that will make me cry. BUT i'm sure it'll be amazing.

Sometimes it's so difficult, that i can't stop crying and getting me together. People whom i love and value very much are moving from Ukraine in 1-2 weeks. I know that we'll meet somewhere again, and here i'll have an amazing year, but i'll miss them so much, i'll miss each conversation, our jokes, just everything about us. I'll miss the firendship which i couldn't expect to happen with me.
Hope to meet somewhere in this world
